It's the question every brand asks...
...and the one agencies answer least clearly. "It depends." Yes, it depends. But that doesn't mean it's impossible to provide concrete benchmarks.
At Matriochka Influences, we've been managing influencer campaigns from Paris for several years for brands including NIVEA, Volvo, Instagram and Picard. We've negotiated hundreds of collaborations with creators of all sizes. What follows are ranges drawn from our hands-on experience — not theoretical averages from an American study.
What makes up the cost of an influencer campaign
Before talking numbers, it helps to understand what you're actually paying for. An influencer campaign budget breaks down into several cost lines.
⮕ Influencer fees. This is the main expense. The creator is paid to produce content and distribute it to their audience.
⮕ Agency fees. Strategy, profile sourcing, negotiation, briefing, production oversight, coordination, reporting. Depending on the agency, this is a flat fee, a percentage of the influencer budget or a hybrid model.
⮕ Additional production. Sometimes the brand wants extra content: a professional photo shoot, recut video, adaptations for its own social channels. These costs come on top of creator fees.
⮕ Rights and exclusivity. If you want to repurpose an influencer's content for paid advertising (whitelisting) or request a sector exclusivity, the fee increases significantly — sometimes by 30 to 100% of the base rate.
Instagram influencer rates in 2026: real ranges
The rates below apply to the French and European market and reflect what we see in our day-to-day negotiations. They are for a feed post or Instagram Reel.
⮕ Nano-influencers (1,000–10,000 followers): €100 to €2,000 per piece of content. Many still accept product gifting without payment, but this practice is declining. Engagement rates are often the highest across all categories.
⮕ Micro-influencers (10,000–50,000 followers): €2,000 to €5,000 per piece of content. This is the segment that offers the best value for most campaigns. Audiences are engaged, content feels authentic, and rates remain accessible.
⮕ Mid-tier influencers (50,000–500,000 followers): €5,000 to €15,000 per piece of content. Rates vary significantly by sector. A beauty creator at 100K will cost more than a travel creator with the same following, because brand demand is higher.
⮕ Macro-influencers (500,000–1 million followers): €15,000 to €30,000 per piece of content. At this level, negotiations are more structured, often involving a talent agent or manager. Multi-content packages (1 Reel + 3 Stories + 1 post) are the norm.
⮕ Top-tier influencers (1 million+ followers): starting from €30,000, with no real ceiling. Rates regularly exceed €40,000.
TikTok influencer rates in 2026
TikTok has caught up with Instagram in terms of brand demand, but rates remain on average 15 to 30% lower than Instagram for a comparable audience. This is due to a younger market and a production style perceived as less "premium".
⮕ Nano-creators (1K–10K): €100 to €1,800.
⮕ Micro-creators (10K–50K): €1,800 to €4,500.
⮕ Mid-tier creators (50K–500K): €4,500 to €13,500.
⮕ Macro-creators (500K–1M): €13,500 to €25,000.
⮕ Top-tier creators (1M+): from €25,000.
Important note: on TikTok, follower count is less predictive than on Instagram. A creator with 30K followers can generate millions of views thanks to the algorithm. We therefore look more closely at average views per video than at follower numbers.
How much does a full campaign cost? Three real scenarios
⮕ Scenario 1: targeted micro-influence campaign Objective: local awareness or niche product launch. 5 to 12 micro-influencers, Instagram and/or TikTok content, 2 to 4 weeks. Total budget: €8,000 to €25,000 (influencer fees + agency fees + coordination). This is the most common format among clients starting out with influencer marketing.
⮕ Scenario 2: multi-platform campaign with PR Objective: national launch, broad visibility, media coverage. 15 to 30 creators, Instagram + TikTok activation + press PR, 4 to 8 weeks. Total budget: €25,000 to €60,000. This is our most requested format. Combining influence and PR maximises the campaign's lifespan.
⮕ Scenario 3: large-scale programme Objective: major launch, national campaign, integrated physical event. 30+ creators, multi-platform activation, PR, event, video production. Total budget: €80,000 and above. This type of programme typically involves brands with structured marketing budgets.
Mistakes that blow the budget
⮕ Activating too many profiles without a strategy. Engaging 40 creators at random costs a lot and dilutes the message. Ten strategically chosen profiles will perform better.
⮕ Skipping negotiation. Influencer rates are not fixed. An experienced agency negotiates packages, volume discounts across multiple campaigns and favourable terms. At Matriochka, our direct relationships with creators allow us to secure rates that brands couldn't get on their own.
⮕ Forgetting usage rights. Repurposing influencer content for paid ads without negotiating the rights upfront is the fastest way to receive a surprise invoice.
⮕ Not budgeting for PR. Influence alone has a short shelf life. Coupling it with press coverage extends the impact without necessarily doubling the budget.
How to get the most from your influence budget
⮕ Favour micro-influencers. For the same budget, 10 micro-creators will often generate more engagement and conversions than a single macro-influencer.
⮕ Negotiate long-term partnerships. A creator who works with your brand across 3 or 4 campaigns in a year will be more authentic, more engaged and usually cheaper per activation.
⮕ Integrate PR from the start. A press feature triggered by an influencer campaign costs nothing extra if your agency handles both. That's free ROI.
⮕ Demand precise reporting. Without measurement, optimisation is impossible. Insist on clear KPIs from the outset so you know what's working and can reallocate budget accordingly.
